COA VBC Safety Procedures and Precautions

COA VBC is committed to providing an environment that is as safe and healthy as possible. We have developed safety precautions in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic.  Since we practice in schools, we will be in open communication with school officials and local health experts to monitor any potential health issues.

The following procedures will be communicated to our coaches, staff, players, and families to ensure a safe experience in the gyms:

During any summer clinics, lessons, or camps, the school and gym will be closed to the public.  Spectators, parents, siblings, or any non-participant individuals will not be allowed into the school or gym. Parents may check in their child, but will not be allowed to stay in the school or  gym.

All restrooms will be generally closed unless for an emergency use. COA staff will sanitize the restrooms after each session/practice/clinic if ever used. Players will need to notify staff before using the restroom.

-All players must have a signed COVID-19 Waiver to participate.

-All players and staff must have their temperature checked with a non-contact thermometer before entering the gym.

-Any individual with a temperature higher than 100 degrees or showing signs of being sick will not be allowed into the school.

-All participants must answer two questions before being allowed in:

  1. Have you been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 recently?

  2. How do you feel sick in any way?

-Athletes will not be allowed into the school until 10 minutes before the session/practice/clinic is to begin and be promptly picked up thereafter.

-Athletes will only be allowed to bring a water bottle and shoes into the facility. No other items including bags will be allowed into the gym.

-No one will be allowed to use the water fountains.  Players must bring an unopened water bottle and place away from other participants.

-Hand sanitizer will be provided by COA VBC and Coaches will encourage players to use it often during the session/practice/clinic.

-No handshakes or making physical contact with other persons in the gym.

-All balls and equipment will be sprayed with disinfectant before and after each session/practice/clinic.

-All Coaches and Staff will be required to wear a mask at all times.

-Players are encouraged to wear a mask when entering the facility and at the conclusion of the session/practice/clinic.

-No one will be allowed to go anywhere in the school other than the gym.

-There will be a limit of 10-12 players on each court for each session/practice/clinic.

-Players will be encouraged to comply with social distancing and keep a minimum of 6 foot distance from each other as much as possible during all session/practice/clinic, especially on water breaks.

-Anyone who may have participated in a session/practice/clinic that discovers he/she has tested positive for COVID-19 will be required to call Club Director Brian Payne at 812-240-0996 immediately along with their family doctor.

-Anyone that has tested positive for COVID-19 will not be allowed to participate in summer sessions/practices/clinics.

-A log of attendance and temperature screenings will be maintained for each session/practice/clinic which shall also include a contact phone number in case someone who attended the session/practice/clinic later tests positive for COVID-19. If COA VBC is notified of a participant testing positive for COVID-19 after attending a session/practice/lesson, all participants that attended a session/practice/clinic with the positive participant will be contacted by COA VBC staff to inform them of the situation, advised to get tested, and go into quarantine for 14 days because of potential exposure.
